Electromin Insider: Preparing for success on and off the track

At Electromin, we know that success lies in the details—especially in high-performance settings like the FIA Formula E World Championship. In this first instalment of our Nissan Formula E Team-inspired blog series, we explore the meticulous preparation behind Nissan Formula E Team’s success and how Electromin brings that same precision and focus to every EV infrastructure project.

Expertise, Planning and Communication

In the world of motorsport, particularly in the high-stakes realm of Formula E, every team and its departments operate with their own specialized systems and processes. These individual departments form unique “bubbles” of expertise, each with its own responsibilities and targets.

While each department is focused on its own piece of the puzzle, the true magic happens when they synchronize and collaborate under the guidance of the management team.

Dorian Boisdron, Team Director of Nissan Formula E Team, highlights the importance of this alignment: “I ensure the global organization and workflow around race events run smoothly, aligning different departments and people. Coordination is crucial to align everyone on the targets I set, ensuring we’re united under a shared vision. For example, identifying the main performance criteria for specific tracks or the technical and sporting challenges unique to each event. Everyone’s efforts must be synchronized to serve these goals.”

This interdependence demands excellence. Each team member, from engineers to strategists, must deliver flawlessly. Rigorous preparation—simulation training, race strategy development, and car calibration— is undertaken to be ready for any track conditions. Engineers optimize every detail, from tyre performance to energy management, ensuring peak performance. No single piece of the puzzle can afford to falter.

This commitment to expertise, teamwork, and communication mirrors Electromin’s approach to designing and deploying EV charging solutions for businesses and public spaces.

At Electromin, we only source SASO-certified hardware, ensuring compliance with Saudi Arabia’s highest standards for safety, performance, and environmental sustainability. As a SEC-certified contractor, we ensure all installations meet Saudi Arabia’s strictest safety and performance standards. Installation materials are carefully selected to align with these standards, and chargers are safeguarded with RCDs, dedicated grounding systems, and MCCBs for overload protection. These measures guarantee that our customers receive equipment that is safe, reliable, and built to withstand demanding usage.

Planning and preparation are central to our process, helping us avoid unforeseen challenges. For every project, we develop a comprehensive risk mitigation plan. This plan identifies potential hazards—such as fire risks, electrical faults, grounding issues, overloading, and overheating—and outlines control measures to minimize their likelihood.

Tony Mazzone, Electromin’s Managing Director, emphasizes the importance of preparation and teamwork: “Yes, unforeseen events can happen, but with the right planning, their likelihood is greatly reduced, allowing us to execute smoothly. If something does occur onsite, communication is key. It’s about aligning with stakeholders and the team to activate the plan and get back on track quickly, ensuring we achieve our goals together.”

The Power of Teamwork and Collaboration on race weekends

With a maximum of 30 people on the track at any given time for Nissan Formula E Team, the task at hand becomes even more critical. Every person is an expert in their respective field, whether it’s managing tyres, optimizing energy, or improving overall performance. The level of specialization required is so high that each team member is chosen because they are one of the best in the world at what they do.

However, as Dorian explains, success isn’t just about individual excellence—it’s about integration: “Each of these groups has distinct responsibilities. My job is to ensure they work cohesively, pushing in the same direction. It’s about maintaining a well-balanced mix of collaboration and efficiency across all departments.”

Despite this intense specialization, race weekend success relies on the ability of every team member to come together as a unified whole to strive for perfection. Each person works with their unique skillset, but the goal is the same: to have two cars prepared, on time, and ready to race for the best possible outcome. The reality is that every race is like starting from scratch, and the preparation must adapt and evolve. “kaizen” – the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement – is at the heart of everything they do.

Dorian recalls a prime example of this in Diriyah: “In the first race, we struggled, but by the second, we adapted. We secured pole position and finished on the podium. That’s the result of constant learning and aligning our efforts under a shared vision.”

This collaborative ethos mirrors Electromin’s approach to delivering EV charging solutions. Just as Nissan Formula E Team prioritizes clear communication and synchronization, Electromin begins every project with a kickoff meeting and stakeholder alignment. This ensures timely delivery, meeting the highest standards.

“Electromin is more than an e-mobility solutions provider,” said Tony. “We’re a trusted partner in every project, delivering tailored solutions with precision and timeliness. Like Nissan Formula E Team striving for championship wins, our success relies on meticulous preparation and seamless communication—without which, you can’t even reach the starting line.”

As Nissan Formula E Team fine-tunes its approach for every race, Electromin mirrors this dedication in our EV charger installations. Each project is an opportunity to achieve peak performance, where every step—from planning and risk assessment to installation and testing—is executed with precision.
